Im assuming that this will cause problems on different versions of classic shell? You may want to delete the file when the next version of classic shell is released that way users don't download it by mistake.

Maybe Developers, make a invert-color metro button in new version. Only a hope!

I agree there should be a metro type button included with the release, as well as the actual start orb for win7, however there are certain legal issues at work that would likely prevent such.

Replacing the DLL to change the Start button is a bad way as updates to Classic Shell will cause issues. This is completely unsupported. Please use the provided methods to change it.

will it actually 'cause issues' or will installing a new version simply replace the old .dll resetting the icon?

I know if you copied this over to a different version it would potentially cause problems. but i guess that might be enough reason to remove it from the forums to avoid future confusions related to this?

I thought about deleting this myself, but i figured id see what you guys thought first :P, its not like this actually changes other parts of the .dll that cant be changed by safer means, in which case i could see the reward outweighing the risk

I meant that suppose someone is using a newer or even older version of Classic Shell and the wrong version's DLL is replaced by the user, then it will cause issues. Updating Classic Shell will just cause the installer to overwrite it. If after updating, the user thinks "Hey I lost my modified button, I must replace the DLL again" not realizing the version mismatch? Anyways, what's the issue with using the proper way to change the Start button?

yes some people will have brains enough to know how to properly read and use your post.. but some people wont, and then thats just 1 more factor we have to troubleshoot..
and those with brains could just as easily figure out how to install it the official/supported way.

And i'm sorry for the edit, but unless you can give a better reason to use this method over the supported one (or i recieve higher orders). I think it would be in the majorities interest not to have this method causing potential problems.. Alternatively if your dead set on using this method, and cant convince me this method has any major advantages, you can always delete the thread (or ask me to do so anyways)
