When I use any one of the XP style Start buttons it partially hides the IE icon in the task bar. How do I fix that? I use Windows 8.1

The IE icon should move to the correct position if you change the Start Button size, so just increase it by one, open and close the start menu, then reduce it to its previous value and you should be good to go.

Please post a screenshot to give an idea of what's happening. Also, make sure you aren't using any other Start menu app along with Classic Shell.

Do you have any other taskbar toolbars enabled? I see a larger than usual gap below your Taskbar buttons.

I turned off the HP assistant. It had a rather large icon in the task bar. That made the bar more narrow.
