Carryover conversation continued from the Smoked Glass 7 style page.

I made the alpha layer/channel half the values they were, but I left the borders the same as before.

Problem. With only half alpha amount, the smokiness look which is on the RGB layer is reduced by half.
So I made another menu bitmap with twice the RGB values to get the Smoky look back.
I put it as an option.

The weird thing with glass transparency in Window 10 is the more the menu bitmap is low alpha value, the more glass color is boosted.
So even checking the box for "Reduce glass color" there is still color showing.

If this is not enough transparency, I can do the whole process again with lower alpha values. :)
This experiment 7 style skin has middle at now 96/255 alpha layer.
Going lower can affect the text visibility.

We can change the borders be more transparent too.

It is kind of nice on a lot of my nature background pictures.
If the desktop is too bright all the time(working with lots of open white windows), I find opacity at default 50 looks better than 10.

The dark opaque option is kind of useless now, as it becomes way too dark.
Do you want me to chop it out?

I can put in text shadows if you want?
If so, I can work on it tomorrow.

EDIT: I had time, after all, to put text shadows option in.
I disabled the region text option(Very dark opaque)
Now revB up top.

thank you Juniper,

you exceed my wishes ! :)
I wish I could put my avatar picture without frame ..

it's possible ? I know you want to windows 7 and this framework ...

so you do not have to do it! ;)

I find that Classic Shell is a nice software and I am happy that Github continues to make it work and update it. :P

Hello Pipalou50 and others.

The name I made does not match what the skin does.
It says half transparent...WRONG. I'm so stupid sometimes. The transparency is doubled!

I changed the final name to Smoky Glass 2xTr revC (2 times the original transparency).
It's up top.

Made icon avatar user picture option.

Made a few more square user frame sizes.

Made the skinny white frame similar to StartIsBack.

Made round frames from the square frames.

Lastly added option to fix programs tree box over brightness
when glass blur isn't turned on like on Windows 8

I think that's about it.

Juniper7's skins are unparalleled, many of them worth bundling with Classic Shell. :)

Depuis la mise à jour Windows 11 22H2 , la transparence des skins à disparue !
Quelque idée là dessus ???
merci !

Since the Windows 11 22H2 update, the transparency of skins disappeared!
Any idea about that?
thank you!

Post subject:  Re: Testing Half transparent Smokylike Glass.skin7

Hi Pipalou50.
I'm still using Win10 as my main system.

I have Windows 11 22H2 updated to Build 22621.608 on a different drive,
just to see what Win11 is like.
Thought there was going to be Explorer tabs, but nothing yet.

Yes, I noticed that there is no glass blur as well.
That's too bad. Microsoft sure does like to hide access to the old code,
or perhaps they even deleted that aero glass code now?

Maybe Open-Shell coders can find a way to get it back.
I just downloaded and tried "ExplorerPatcher" for the first time.
Unless I missed one of the settings,
I can't get Aero or fake glass to work with it.

About the only thing we can do is use Ivo's darker transparent feature
when menu glass blur is not available.

Go to "Menu Look" tab in Classic/Open shell settings.
Uncheck the box for "Enable menu glass"

EDIT:
Now it makes me wonder if 22H2 update for Windows 10 kills off glass blur
the same as it did in Windows 11 22H2 ?

EDIT:
Just updated Windows 10 to 22H2 19045.2130
Glass blur still works on the start menu and taskbar.
That's a big relief. :)

Thank you Juniper.
That’s really too bad... isn’t there a way around that?
