Can anyone make me a 125% DPI metro version of the XP Luna skin?

Do you mean like this one? It picks up on Metro colors. I'm not sure exactly what you want. Do you want a flat "modern" XP menu? Because to make the XP menu "modern"—without any depth and devoid of inspiration— you're left with the "metro" menu, which you already have :P. Sorry, I hate the "modern" look myself (and think that modern is terrible name for that look.…)

That's not modern, that's glass-coloured .-.

You are both right in some ways.
On Win 10, using my eyes, full 255/255 glass color is same as Metro Dark1 accent color.
I found that out using ClASETRO skin.
One main difference is when the red mask is designated as a Metro accent color,
the CSM "Overide glass color" option only works on the small leakage glass color.
Without Metro color designation, glass overide has full control.
If color picker option is in skin, it's more of a blend.

Metro is definitely flat without texture. That's the way it's going.
Too hard to make textured menus for such wide ranges of screen sizes. 8k will be coming soon.
If a round corner Metro skin is required, some people made already.

The Metro skin looks nothing like the XP start menu! Make me an XP Luna Modern.skin please!

Not sure if anybody knows what you mean. Do you have a sketch, or screenshot of something?

If it's those modern square tiles on the menu, I don't think it can be done at this time.

You could download a different start menu from someone else:

You can change some of the menu colors from its settings, Make some Luna colors, like I did in picture.

But it's not Metro colors.
I was going to recommend Metro Color Tool skin7.
The logic has changed with new versions of CSM.
Now the black text does not show up anymore.

Woe is me. :(

Seems like a transparency problem. Can you attach your skin file here?

It might be because Windows 10 redefined the "Application text" metro colors,
when they made light and dark themes. Just tried older version of CSM. Same.
It's Windows updates that messed it up. :|

I'll change to just #000000 later.

Remember, in my first post, I said that I needed the skin for my 125% DPI display.

Basic Split Win10.skin

Flat, like Metro Color Tool .skin7, but is classic opaque two column skin.

Similar to XP, without the bits below. No time for that.

EDIT: Woohoo!
3 years later I finally added the 7-pixel menu bit at the bottom of the classic style skin (like Ivo's Windows XP Luna), now revB.

For the 7 style version, look further down this page.

That is a beautiful Start Menu skin, juniper 7. :) Goes well with Windows 10's flat icons. Would look even better with the "Invert Metro icon color" option of Classic Start Menu turned on so the boxy tiled look is gone for UWP apps.

The look is cool, but how about the start button? The taskbar is easy to do, but the start button would be harder.

I don't even know if a metro color can be applied to a start button,
that is a complementary color, or appealing rgb opposite?

The only metro color that I know of is $LightSearchHitHighlight
I had it not as a start button, but as the 2 pixel line above the text like in XP menu.
Problem was it was red with blue accent color, and orange with purple accent,
blue with green accent color. Did not look correct, got removed.

As for a different start button, I'm sure someone can mod one.

Note:
The Win 10 accent color swatches do not cover all available colors that can be shown.
Automatic accent color has more variables. Maybe a new Windows update will have more available swatch color boxes to choose from, in future?

Other: Try the glass color option, for more intense menu color.

8-) Mmmm....Hot pink:
Overide glass color option in "Menu Look"tab
Menu glass color= C132FF

or XP blue menu top:
Menu glass color= D96C00

EDIT:
If on Windows 8 the default start button hover color can be changed
by going into Start Screen mode, Settings, Personalize.
Change the accent color/brightness to whatever you want.
It will then show the same color when in desktop mode.

Basic Split Win10 [7 STYLE] for CSM version 4.3.1
For exact display sizes 100%/96dpi,125%/120dpi,150%/144dpi
Made for Windows 10 and 8 to use the Metro color shades or glass color.
It does not work at all on Win7 due to the use of the Metro color text.

I finished the 7 style menu after 3 years as well, which has the fake shutdown icons & fake Log off text at the bottom of the menu.

If it's too hard to understand all the below settings for Win 10 and Win 8, and just want a nice blue start menu,
then on the skin options select "Glass color for Win 8 Desktop"
and then check the unlocked box just below called "Glass saturated blue color". Done. :)

More detailed Win 10 settings:

On recent updated Win 10 versions the system colors can be either a Dark mode, Light mode,
or a custom mix of Light and Dark modes.
It's a bit tricky to get Classic Shell to look correct with the rest of system.
I find to get most everything to look white with color along with Classic Shell is:
Choose Windows "Custom" color
Select "Dark" for Default Windows mode along with selecting "Light" for Default app mode
Turn on Windows "Start, taskbar, and action center" for accent color to show
Turn on "Title bars and window borders"
Turn off "Transparency effects"

Also on newer versions of Win10, accent color settings have the Custom color picker where a hex number can be pasted in the "More" area,
paste 0072ED for a saturated blue. On skin setting option, pick Metro color shade "Dark"

Or if using "Glass color", go to Classic/Open Shell settings, "Menu Look" tab,
check the box for "Override glass color" and paste D36500 in the "Menu glass color" box.
You would also need to open the "Taskbar" tab and enable the "Customize taskbar" box and change the Taskbar color to something like B85900

Setting menu color on Windows 8 OS:

Metro color shades work the same as Ivo's Metro skin,
where the colors are sampled from the "Start Screen", not the desktop.
One needs to change Windows colors when in Start Screen mode.
Then the same color is shown on the start menu when switched back to desktop mode. It is best to pick the skin Dark shade option when using Win 8.
Yes, it's a royal pain to go adjusting the Start screen Background colors for the desktop menu when using a Metro shade.
About the only good setting is one can change the Accent color of the start button to green.

For the Win 8 desktop, it's better to use the Glass color skin option along with Windows 8 Personalize feature:
"Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization\Color and Appearance" and adjust the sliders.
In the CSM settings "Menu Look" tab, Turn off "Override glass color". :)

Whereas Win 8 Automatic color picker( picks a color from background picture or theme) tends to make the taskbar and start menu overly bright or very dark.
If you are going to use the Win 8 auto color picker, turn on CSM "Override glass color".
Make sure "Menu glass color" is on default (not bold text. Right-click to set default).
Set "Menu glass intensity" on default or about 85
Set the "Menu color blending" to 0
These settings can only tame the color/brightness so much. :(

Can also use Glass color option along with the "Override glass color" option in "Menu Look" tab
of CSM general settings to change menu color that overrides system color.

Final note:
Sometimes the fade away speed for a pressed selected button is too slow.
Example: The shutdown icon button can show a visual anomaly for a split second after it is pressed.
@ezhao02 mentioned this on a different skin a few years ago and said:
"if anyone wants to know, it's 'Fade speed' in the 'Menu Look' tab"
Reduce it to 0
