 Post subject: Windows XP Royale Skin

Here's a Windows XP Royale skin for Classic Shell for all the XP fans out there who use a matching Royale visual style on Windows 7/8/Vista. I simply modified an existing Royale skin some user had created on Deviantart (with his permission of course). Let me know your suggestions. :P

The Royale Start Menu skin is a good match for the following visual styles (You will need to have UxStyle installed for your correct Windows version first):

Royale Visual Style for Windows 7
Royale Visual Style for Windows 8.1
Royale Visual Style for Windows 8
Royale Visual Style for Windows Vista
Zune Visual Style for Windows 7
Zune Visual Style for Windows 8.1

I couldn't find more matching visual styles like Embedded and Royale Noir :( but they were there at DA earlier.

Download the Windows XP Royale.zip and extract the skin to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\Skins. You will need to switch obviously to the "Classic with two columns" Start Menu style in Classic Shell settings to use this skin.

Hmm. I can't seem to figure it out. I can only get the Royale.
I really like the Zune. Is this because of the uxstyle acting up, or is it that "variation " bug, that Ivo mentioned about? I am using Win 8.1 CSM 4.0.2
I don't seem to be able to switch themes of CC4 anymore either?
If I, hold on.
OK. I just copied all the numbers of the Zune folder 4 and matched up and pasted over the ones in the first folder. It worked, now I have the Zune one working.
I wonder if I make a new skin file with all the variations converted to option radio buttons instead?
It will force me to learn something over the holidays. :)

Yes it is that variation bug in Classic Shell 4.0.2. It will be fixed in the next release of Classic Shell. You can temporarily revert to Classic Shell 4.0 to use other variations or wait till the next release.

If you make a skin with the variations converted to option radio buttons, it will work will the current release too. I considered converting the skin variations into radio group options but then the skin won't work with Classic Shell 3.6.x for Windows Vista users.

The broken variations bug for old skins is fixed in Classic Shell 4.0.4.

Put the icons anywhere you want. For example, you can create a folder under C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\ClassicShell\ called Icons. Then from Start Menu settings, you must switch to the Classic style or Classic with two columns style which is what is required to use these Royale skins. Go to the Customize Start Menu tab in Settings and double click the Shutdown and Logoff items to bring up the "Edit item" dialog, where you can change their icons.

To make the menu more like XP, you can drag the Log off item outside of the Shutdown dialog. Also you can change the Command of the Shutdown dialog from shutdown_box to shutdown if you want. Everything is customizable in the Classic styles.

Were you able to find the matching visual styles again? Or did you download them before they were taken down, and if so, can you post them here? I've been looking for some time myself, and can't find them.

I gather you are asking about a theme, not just classic two column/7 style start menu skin.

As Microsoft is killing off parts of theming with each new Windows 10 update,
I can see theme makers are having a hard time making themes work.
Eventually, all a user will be able to change, is just the color of taskbar/title bar. :(

Here is a different type of style, that is not a Windows theme.
It is a "Start Is Back plus" Styles made by Sagorpirbd.
You have to use Startisback:
