Post subject:  Easier Settings Menu customization
It would be nice to simply be able to drag and drop things into the Settings Menu instead of having to use the overly complicated 'Custom Command' feature in the CSM settings.

If that cannot be accomplished, a couple of commands that I'd like to see as standard are 'Classic Explorer' settings (really surprised this isn't included) and 'Administrative Tools' from the Control Panel.

this would simplify things a lot of websites already support drag/drop to upload, so if a shortcut could be dragged into the customize start menu page.. that would really help. users not having to deal with all the settings on the backend :P unless they wanted to ofc.. (automatically pull the link, the name, and the icon from a shortcut)

You can drag shortcuts into the Start menu, and into the Programs menu. But for some reason, not the Settings (or Documents) menu.

Dragging is supported into what are file system folders which you can open in Explorer. The Settings menu or others which are Items defined on the Customize Start Menu tab, they are stored in the registry. Nevertheless, that's a good idea for the future. Dragging an item into the menu inside a main Item could add it as a subitem on the Customize tab as a Link. Would it be possible, Ivo?

The reason you can't drag shortcuts to Settings is because it is not done. Features don't just happen. Somebody has to create them.
The reason you can't drag shortcuts to Documents is because it shows the recently opened documents. The way to add items to that list is to open a document. Recently.

@documents, he may have more folders as children of the documents item.

Dragging a file into the documents folder, does show a divider, thus indicating that the file will be dropped there when the key is released, so this, and the fact that the text 'link' still show up, when attempting to drop a file in 'unsupported' locations, may have lead him to believe that it is a bug rather than a feature/request.

If you do decide to allow shortcuts to be dropped anywhere on the start menu (IE if the user dropped a shortcut between my computer, and network places, a 'custom command' is between the 2 with the shortcuts attributes(link/icon/name))
I would recommend making it optional and/or requiring a modifier key be held down for it to work (i would suggest alt, since shift moves, and ctrl copies)

This is still like it was. Forget about drag-and-drop. Just please add Classic Explorer settings to the Settings menu, thank you.

Classic Explorer and the Classic Start Menu are completely unrelated features that don't know about each other. That's so you can install them independently. So it is not possible to put the Classic Explorer settings as a menu item by default - what if Classic Explorer is not installed? It is trivial to add it yourself anywhere you like in the menu, and even customize the icon and text.
