I think it would be nice if classic start menu have menu transitions after clicking an item and closing start menu with fade out/slide out animation like in this illustration...

Actually yeah, that's a really good idea. It'd be nice to see it added... >.> |

Yep fade out animation for closing the menu would be nice. It's up to Ivo though. |

I'm not saying its a big one, but there would be a slight performance hit; at the exact same time your trying to open another program.. This could be part of the reason it wasn't added along with the fact that the new program should ideally be drawing your view away from the receding menu anyways, possibly distracting you. (once you open a program, you don't need to think about the start menu anymore and it moving will just draw attention/thought So I am personally against it.. but if it were Optional of-course I have no counter-argument ![]() |

Yeah, the animation out would likely best be optional. Adding onto this whole idea...how about an option to fade AND slide in either direction? Seems logical, given that Windows 10 does just that...let me guess, not worth the time and effort given the nonexistent impact on usability? >.> |

I tested the menu fade out transition on Startisback doesn't affect the performance of opening a program, so i agree if it should be added on CSM. |
