It would be nice if deleting shortcuts on the Start Menu did not close the Start Menu. It's annoying if there are multiple shortcuts in a folder you want to delete but you don't want to completly delete the entire folder. You have to navigate back to the folder over, and over, and over.... |

The problem is that deleting stuff can often show a confirmation prompt, and since Windows 8 those prompts appear behind the start menu. That's why the start menu has to close. The start menu is not a file manager and is only suited for the occasional file management tasks. For large scale changes, open the Start Menu folder in Explorer and do the work there. |

Huh, I didn't realize the "Open" and "Open all users" options when right-clicking the Start Menu button opened the Start Menu locations in Windows Explorer. Handy shortcuts! I'll use these in future for bulk changes. |
