Would it be possible to add "Start in safe mode" to the shutdown menu? That would be very helpful.

You can hold down the Shift key on the keyboard as you click "Restart" to go to the Advanced Startup/Safe mode options.

But I agree it will be useful. For touch users, for example, so they don't have to hold down Shift on the touch keyboard, having it as another entry will be useful.

Right now you can add it as a Custom item. In the Command field of the Custom item, specify: shutdown.exe /r /o /t 00

Thanks for answer. I am not so good in this and need a tutorial to edit a custom item. Iobit Start Menu 8 has this as standard and I think it should be that in Classic Shell as well because it is not so easy to find the way to safe mode if you are not a data nerd. The old trick by tapping F8 at startup do not work anymore, but that too can be fixed I have heard. But essentially this is about simplyness. It would be very easy and handy to have this option in the the shutdown menu when you need it.

To add a custom item,
1. Open Classic Start Menu settings
2. Check "Show all settings" and go to the Customize Start Menu tab.
3. I assume you are using the Windows 7 style, press Insert key. A new item will be added. Double click in its Command column and pick Custom.
4. You can drag its icon up and down to reposition it wherever you want. Double click the icon of that custom item and in its Command field, enter: shutdown.exe /r /o /t 00
5. Specify the label for example: "Safe Mode Options" or "Advanced Startup" or "Troubleshooting Options" (whatever you want).
6. Specify an icon if you want.
7. Click OK to save settings.

Let me know if you are using the Classic with two columns style and I will give the instructions for that.

Thank you, I understand now and it works after I restarted. But not exactly the way I wanted. It restarted the machine into Windows repair menu where I can find the way to reboot into safe mode. That is the long way around. I want it to restart directly into safe mode as Start menu 8 do. Do you know the command line for that?

I will have to investigate Iobit's Start Menu to see how it does that. I suspect it uses some bcdedit.exe command.
