Windows 10 actually made a few changes I like, but we still got that hindrance of customization that Microsoft always brings that make programs like this necessary. A few improvements in Windows 10 include: 1. Pinned Apps are now on the right side instead of the left. This would be cool to have on Classic Shell on Windows 7 style (essentially flip columns) 2. large, easy to click icons on start. MS did tiles, but Classic Shell could do something different that still gives us those big icons (maybe along the lines of putting a desktop in the start menu) 3. multiple columns and groups for applications. This makes the start menu so much more intuitive. Whether or not you hate tiles, the addition of organization in the start menu is a welcome one. I'm not saying that Windows 10's start menu is perfect by any means, but just because we're aiming for an old style start menu doesn't mean we can't borrow a few nice features from the new as an option. |

>Putting a desktop in the start menu LOL.. I guess you could call an explorer window in-place of a start menu... Also classic shell does have something 'similar' if you right click an item in the customize start men tab you can select 'insert sub items as buttons' This will replace a link with up-to 4 buttons (allowing you to make a grid 8 wide, and however tall you wanted in theory) |

I don't actually see that button in that tab. All I see is "insert new item" but not what you mentioned. That does seem like a cool feature though. |

its not in the tab, but on each item, you have to right click an item and go to 'edit item' |

I see the multi-column button but nothing happens to the link when I do it. |

the item has to have children, drag something and drop it just below the item, so it is placed offset to the right See attached screenshot

Jcee, you should mention that Windows 7 style of the menu does not have the feature to show subitems as inline buttons, only the Classic or Classic with two columns style has it. |
