I realize this might require another piece of software, but I would sorely miss Aero Flip 3D upon updating to Windows 10. If there can be a tool made to restore it, that would be excellent. I'm trying to retain as much of Windows 7 as possible, and it seems right now Classic Shell and Aero Glass for Win8 are my best bets. |

There was a desktop app called WinFlip which was a clone of Flip 3D. You can get it here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS- ... Flip.shtml Or even better, I recommend VistaSwitcher (http://www.ntwind.com/software/vistaswitcher.html). It's not 3D but it does make use of the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) to show a live preview of windows and a clear, readable task list with excellent mouse and keyboard usability. On Windows 8 and Windows 10 there is an issue that many hidden windows are present which clutter the VistaSwitcher Task list. But you can set up exclusions in VistaSwitcher to not show the hidden windows. Note: Classic Shell is not responsible for any third party apps recommended here. Use them at your own risk. |

I would recommend trying out task view though, it's a very useful feature and IMO it's pretty cool as well. I do like that there is the choice to use third party apps to restore old functionality though. |

(*cough*RIP Win2k Start Menu, Classic Theme, and Basic Theme*cough*) ...actually, that's debatable, as such tools often best their official counterparts. Classic Shell does that here - the closest MS ever got to a Win2k Start Menu that doesn't look out-of-place in a non-Classic-themed context is a few early variants of the Plex theme from Longhorn ![]() |

The problem with Task View (and the Alt+Tab switcher) in Windows 7/Vista is that the thumbnails are fancy but too small to really show the difference between 2 similar Notepad windows or 2 similar Google Chrome windows. What VistaSwitcher does is it shows a very simple, clear and easy to read vertical Task List and a large live preview. Btw if you want to use VistaSwitcher with Windows 10, merge the attached REG file so all the hidden windows are not shown in the Task List.
