An update request .. .

This is old & boring..

Each time a person drags an object to the start menu, or creates a shortcut by dragging it there, the start menu has always auto-closed itself since windows was born..

In my case, i create shortcuts & need to, then, rename the shortcut & see how it looks in the list to replace it,
but naturally, after dragging and dropping, windows closes the start menu & we have to reopen it & return to the folder where the shortcut was created..

I can close the start menu by clicking elsewhere on the desktop or browser or another app. But i'd like to decide when i should close it after having dragged
a new object or created a shortcut..

Are you using any third party copy replacement? As long as you are using the default Windows copy engine, the menu should remain open when something is dragged from outside it to inside the menu. Also, which OS does this happen on? Also, are you left clicking and dragging and right click dragging?

What version of Windows are you using? What version of Classic Shell?

Windows 8 pro N 32bits & classicshell 4.1.0

&
"Are you using any third party copy replacement?"
-no

"Also, are you left clicking and dragging and right click dragging?"

I right click the file to get it, then drag it to the desired start menu location, then a blue arrow appears that says "move",
when i leave right click button, the windows submenu appears, i select "create shortcuts here" & start menu closes & created the shortcut..

I don't left click though, my aim's to create shortcuts, but left clicking to "move a file" doesn't close start menu.. only right click does..

Yes, this is a known problem. Use left click to drag and hold down Ctrl and Shift to create a shortcut.
