This might be a bit tricky I don't know but I would like a feature where buttons on the toolbar are available only in certain conditions. For example only when browsing files and not on other Explorer windows like Control Panel, only when zip files are open, only within certain subdirectories etc.

Perhaps one way of going about this is to have a script manager where advanced users can create scripts that control the bar's features.

I don't think Explorer addon toolbars are allowed by MS to be context-sensitive and dynamically change buttons.

That's a shame, would be a great feature IMO.

Is it confirmed you cannot add context sensitive buttons? Only I found this article which demonstrates dynamic buttons (using registry hacks) http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window ... d-bar/3753

That article is talking about the Explorer Command Bar which can be context-sensitive, not the Toolband. To edit the Explorer Command Bar you can use Winaero Explorer Toolbar Editor: http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.16
