I use bxNewFolder from BAxBEx software back in the XP days and I still miss it today. It adds a F12 hotkey for creating new folders and automatically parses backslashes in the name as nested folders. In other words, I was able to type "app\code\local" and it works like mkdir app\code\local. If the SHIFT key was held while pressing Enter to confirm creating the new folder, it takes Explorer directly into the new folder. The only thing I don't like is that it uses an ugly custom dialog instead of looking like an native Explorer function.

I propose a similar feature to be added in Classic Shell. Press F12 to create a new folder just like the Ctrl+Shift+N shortcut, using the built-in inline text box instead of a new dialog box, and allow backslashes in the text box. If the folder name ends with a backslash, enter the folder immediately after the new folder is created, and hint this feature with a tooltip when a backslash is typed.

Also, Explorer does not allow creating files with no filenames (for example: .htaccess), although the filesystem allows it. It would be great if this limitation can be removed from Explorer as well.
