Post subject:  Reboot and Shutdown Buttons in RDP Sessions

Someone already wrote it, but nobody reacted http://www.classicshell.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1322&p=6889&hilit=RDP#p6895

In a native RDP Session with a default 4.0.0 Installation, there is a Logoff Button, but now Shutdown/reboot button. When you enable the Shutdown Button in the settings it replaces the logoff button and thats just useless. Please let the Logoff button sty tehre and ad the shutdown and reboot button for rdp sessions. Makes the Mangement of Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2 much easiert.

Your help is much appreiated

Greetings

That is because there is only one Shutdown item by default but you can of course add you own items. You can do any of these 2 things to suit you:

. After Shutdown and Restart are enabled for Remote sessions, go to the Main Menu tab in Classic Start Menu settings and change the "Shutdown command" to "Logoff". This will make Log off the default command and other actions remain available in the submenu.

- If you want Shutdown and yet a Logoff item above it, you can add it yourself. Go to the Customize Start Menu tab in Start Menu settings. For Windows 7 style, right click in the row below the Run item and choose "Insert new item". Then double click the icon of the item you just inserted and it will bring up the "Edit Menu Item" dialog. In the "Command" field, type: shutdown /L. In the Label field type, &Log off (the ampersand character is so that you can press L to log off). Pick an icon if you want or specify None and change the tooltip also if you want or leave it blank. Click OK twice to save settings. This gives you a Logoff item above Shutdown.

What menu style are you using? I tried all 3, and with "Show shutdown in remote sessions" I can see both shutdown and log off. A screenshot would be helpful, also XML file with your settings.

He probably means in the main menu, not in the submenu. Yes, otherwise, in the submenu, all actions are available.

Thank you very much. That was exact the combination I was looking for. That way it is the exact feeling of Server 2008 R2 in a RDP Session. I made a Registry file out of it, so my fellow Admins, have the rigtht settings in place, when they login for the first time.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu]
"MenuStyle_Default"="Win7"
"DisableHotCorner_Default"="DisableAll"
"ShutdownCommand_Default"="CommandLogOff"
"RemoteShutdown_Default"=dword:00000001
