Can there be a way to show recent items and apps on the windows 8 start menu, just like the classic windows 7 start menu shows? Be a new custom column on windows 8 start screen that can't be changed, but allows you to remove the items from list just like classic start menu.

The Start screen can only show tiles or icons in a flat way, moreover Windows 8.1 removed programmatic pinning, so no.
