Windows 7 x86
Firefox 41
Classic Shell 3.6.8

Hello,

I have Classic Shell configured to use an alternate "start button" and everything worked perfectly.

Then I installed Windows Patch KB4012212 to update against the exploit the "WannaCry" worm uses to infect machines.

After doing so every time I watch a full screen video in Firefox the start button stays visible. This does not happen with any other full screen applications such as games but only during Firefox full screen playback.

If I switch back to the default Windows "start button" the problem no longer occurs but that obviously takes away the functionality.

I already tried updating to the most recent version of Classic Shell and the issue still persists,

Thank you.

On which site are you experiencing this issue with Firefox fullscreen video? By most recent version, I hope you updated to Classic Shell 4.3.0. Version 3.6.8 is very old and unsupported.

Any website. It makes no difference.

Yes, version 4.3.

I tried running Firefox on Windows 7 with YouTube and the Start button replaced. Could not reproduce the issue. If you can narrow it down to some specific software you have installed which causes it or exact steps to reproduce it, the cause can be identified and fixed.

Like I said, everything worked perfectly before installing update KB401221.

Just running the software I mentioned won't replicate the problem...

KB4012212 is already installed on my Windows 7. I have no issues with Firefox fullscreen videos and the Start button showing on top.

What version of firefox?

It must be 41 as I absolutely need this version for add-ons that are not supported in later releases.

Another potential flaw in your "test" could be the version fo windows 7 you were running.

Was it 32-bit?

Have you tried updating Firefox? The latest version is 53, not 41.
Also, which exact video are you trying to play and from which website?

I tried with Firefox 41 on 64-bit Windows 7. But the problem doesn't happen on my PC with YouTube or any fullscreen video playing website.

I feel like you guys aren't reading what I have been stating:

Obviously attempting to replicate the problem using different versions is not going to give the same result...

Regarding what website, it happens with all full screen videos. Youtube is the most popular so I would recommend that.

I read what you wrote however I don't have 32-bit Windows 7 any more to test. All my systems are UEFI with GPT and I cannot boot 32-bit Windows with this combination. Can you try in a 32-bit Windows 7 Virtual Machine if the problem happens there too?
