Classic Shell: Forum

On my surface 3, windows 10, windows 7 style, since the last few updates to classic shell. when I first wake it up from hibernate, sometimes but not always, it will start to cycle through showing the start menu as if I clicked on it or the side button. sometimes it's a few times, sometimes it's on steroids. it will stop after a few minutes. never does it after sleep mode, only after hibernation. doesn't matter what program I'm using (game, app, word, etc.), the menu pops up. sometimes it flashes back and forth between showing and not showing, sometimes it shows and I tap the screen and it goes away, then will show up again. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, etc. again, only after being in hibernation, not after sleep mode.

Are you hibernating using the start menu? Try doing it some other way, like click on the Desktop, then press Alt+F4.
Also, while the problem is happening, press the Win key a few times. Maybe the keyboard thinks the key is stuck.

hibernating on it's own after non-use. win key will make the menu go away but it will still come back up - I can hear that odd noise it makes when you normally press on the win key (you are talking about that side button on the frame, right??) as it flashes the menu on and off. I mostly use it in tablet mode so it's touch screen on the start menu or the win key. I can simply tap the screen anywhere to make the menu go away but it will pop up again. it's odd, because after a few minutes it will stop doing it. it only freaks me a bit when it's going on steroids popping up and away on repeat. I have a laptop that has no issues, only on the surface pro 3.
