Classic Shell: Forum

Hi there
I have installed Classic Shell, 4.2.5c on Windows 10 Pro, 64 bits
After the installation the screen flashes constantly.
I can not select any icon. and can not switch off CS . The desktop flashes constantly.
Via the Task Manager I have to disable the Classic Shell.

Can somebody help me and tell me what goes wrong here?

It might be crashing your Explorer.exe. By screen flashing, do you mean the Taskbar disappears? You could uninstall the current version and install the latest beta from the home page which is most compatible with Windows 10.

If the latest beta still crashes your Explorer.exe, capture a crash dump as per instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6 However it is not clear to me what you mean by "screen flashes". Something else might be wrong on your system too.

I am a Windows enthusiast and helped a little with Classic Shell's testing and usability/UX feedback.

Thanks for your response. Yes I think it is the Explorer.exe.
The Taskbar remains also, but you can not select on single icon on it.
It flashes around 1 sec constantly if something is wrong with the video.
The only escape I have is the Task Manager and disable Classic Shell.
I already had de installed CS and installed the actual version CS. without any success.
I have to disable the Explorer.exe during installation. I will check if this improves.
will keep you posted abt the results I have.

i have tried it again, without any success.

I have de installed CS and see that the issue reamins. When I select control panel it opens for 1 sec and closes. I see some icons flashing. i read that I have to uncheck two services in msconfig, Problem reports and solution.. and windows error reporting.... will check it out later today. otherwise I go back to Windows 7/ or 8.1
