I am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit.

I am trying to update ClassicShell to a latest version 4.2.5. Currently I am running 64-bit version of 4.1.0.

When I run ClassicShellSetup_4_2_5.exe I get the following error: The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755.

When I try to uninstall the current version I get the error: The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible. Free up space on the drive or verify that you have write permission on the Temp folder.

I suspect that some temporary files was accidentally deleted. I may try to use ClassicShellUtility, but it gives so many warnings, that I am afraid that it will remove everything including the folder structure of the menus.

Is there a way to update to the latest version of ClassicShell preferably PRESERVING the existing folder structure, and PREFERABLY refreshing shortcut icons as some of them got lost possibly for the same reason why I cannot reinstall ClassicShell?

The Classic Shell Utility will NOT change the start menu folder structure. It has an option to delete the settings, but you don't have to check it.
However from the error messages you are getting, it appears that you have some system problems. Maybe your C drive is full?

Run Windows Disk Cleanup Tool on your C:\ drive and free up some disk space.

Another possibility is that your Temp folder's permissions got messed up. Make sure your %tmp% directory (C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Temp) is writable. You should be able to create a blank text file in it. Open Properties of the Temp folder and take ownership and grant full write permissions to the correct users and groups (Administrators group and/or your user account at least) and then try running the installer again.
