Post subject: | Possible bug in Control Panel link |
I recently started using Classic Shell on a fresh install of Windows 10 Build 1511. I am still not completely familiar with this application but I have noticed something that might be a bug. Using the Windows 7 - Windows Aero style start menu, if control panel is added as a "link" to the start menu, whenever I go to Control Panel this way, the view defaults to "Large icons" and no matter how many times I change it to the "Category" view, the setting is not saved and reverts back to Large icons upon closing and relaunching Control Panel. I eventually noticed that if I launch control panel directly, for example by searching in the start menu, it does actually open with view mode set to Category but if I use the link in the start menu and launching from the executable directly, it defaults to Large icon view. Needless to say, I never experienced this issue in Windows 7 and I think the link created by Classic Shell is somehow forcing the view mode to Large icons. Is this a bug in Windows 10 or Classic Shell? |

It's not a bug, it's a feature. Check the setting "Use categories view for the Control Panel" in the Main Menu tab to always open it in Category view. |
