I installed Classic Shell 4.2.4 on a PC that had 32bit windows 10 installed. It worked fine until I booted the machine up on 10th September 2015. What happened then was that the PC didn't boot into the desktop as before but started with a full screen win 10 start screen. ( Normally the win 10 start screen is a smaller window) I could not find any way to get back to the smaller window and the Classic Start button didn't do anything. I uninstalled Classic Shell but on rebooting still got the full screen win 10 start screen with an incorrectly functioning start button. I only managed to get win 10 to behave normally by logging on to a different user. It appears that a windows 10 update on or a few days before 10th September has caused this problem with Classic Shell and that a user profile has been corrupted. |

In your usual user account, tablet mode may have got turned on. When it is on, the desktop cannot show. To fix it, press Win+A keys to show the Notification Center/Action Center from the user account where you are having this trouble and press the "Tablet mode" button again to turn it off. Then you can reinstall Classic Shell. |

Thanks GauravK You were absolutely right. Tablet mode had somehow accidentally been turned on. Once I turned it off and reinstalled Classic Shell, everything worked as expected. Thanks for the prompt solution |
