Using Win10 x64 production and Classic shell 4.2.3 RC with the task bar to set to "auto-hide the taskbar", it is fairly easy to get Classic Shell to display on its own without the task bar below it. I just did some random clicking between the desktop and the start menu while hitting the "windows" key to bring up the menu. ![]() There was an issue in the past similar to this related to "secondary monitors" on machines with multiple monitors, but in this case it is just a VM with 1 monitor. |

I have retested this with Classic Shell 4.2.4 production and the problem seems much easier to reproduce and the behavior consistent.
I would expect that the "Windows Key" to raise the task bar and present the start menu together and disappear\minimize when focus is moved away. (This is the behavior with my other machine running Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell 4.2.1) |

I am unable to reproduce this behavior irvinm mentioned. The taskbar always shows for me when the Windows key is pressed and simultaneously or within a fraction of a second, the Start menu shows. They also disappear together. The behavior is same on both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I cannot get the taskbar to remain minimized with the menu showing or show and then disappear with any delay. |

Gaurav, Thanks for trying to reproduce it. I made a quick (1 min 22 sec) video showing the situation. I am willing to try anything you need me to. Sincerely, Mike |

No I can't repro it but from the video it is clear. If Ivo (the developer) can find a reliable way to reproduce the bug or find the cause, it can be fixed. Without the same behavior happening on our PCs, it's hard to fix it. |

Just a quick update for everyone, I installed Windows 10 on 2 physical machines and don't see this issue at all. It appears to be related to running in VMWare Workstation 11. They have since released Workstation 12 which is said to fully support Windows 10 which I will test later. So, I think this is obviously a very low priority issue at this point. (More importantly everything is good again in the physical world! ![]() |
