I'm currently running Classic Shell 4.2.3 on Windows 10. Everything worked fine up until a few hours ago, when the taskbar's icons changed on their own for no apparent reason. Oddly enough, it wasn't directly to Windows defaults, I lost the icons for Firefox and Steam and had the icon for Edge reappear, but the one for Internet Explorer remained.
After that happened, the Classic Start Menu began to immediately close when I try to open it. It seems to restart entirely, the taskbar color flickers back to the Windows default and if I'm fast enough I can click to open the Windows start menu. The normal start menu works fine if I open that up. I've tried resetting the settings for the Classic Start Menu and reinstalling it, but neither helped.
I've tried running procdump on explorer.exe, but it's looking like explorer isn't actually crashing in this case, so I'm not getting a dump file out of it. What I am getting is
[11:20:35] Exception: E06D7363.?AUFileNotFoundException@IO@@ [11:20:35] Exception: E06D7363.?AUFileNotFoundException@IO@@ [11:20:35] Exception: E06D7363.?AUFileNotFoundException@IO@@ [11:20:35] Exception: E06D7363.?AUFileNotFoundException@IO@@ [11:20:35] Exception: E06D7363.?AUFileNotFoundException@IO@@ [11:20:35] Exception: E06D7363.?AUFileNotFoundException@IO@@ [11:20:35] Exception: E06D7363.?AUFileNotFoundException@IO@@ [11:20:36] The process has exited. [11:20:36] Dump count not reached.
so clearly there's still something wrong going on there.
