Hi!

I think there is some bug related to the shutdown button of the start menu (not opening the submenu for other task).

It seems if the computer has updates to install the shutdown button hibernates the computer of something like that.

I discovered using the commnad line "net statistics server" that my computer didn't do a full shutdown because the date of start of the server service was in the past.

Please run that command and if your computer says it started before the last start you remember place here a comment.

If you are using Classic Shell on Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 10, the working of those operating systems has changed now such that shutdown means a logs off+hibernate. Microsoft calls this a hybrid shutdown. It works differently from Windows 7 and earlier which used to do a full shutdown unless you actually selected Hibernate.

To do a full (true) shutdown in Windows 8 and later, you can either:
Hold down the Shift key as you press Shutdown in the Classic Start Menu
OR
Open Classic Start Menu Settings and in the search box of the Settings window, type: hybrid. Uncheck the setting "Enable hybrid shutdown" and click OK. Then it will ALWAYS do a full shutdown.

Another way to do a full shutdown when the computer has updates to install is: press Alt+F4 on the Desktop when all applications are closed. A "Shut Down Windows" dialog will appear. Now select Shut Down, again hold down the Shift key and click OK. Holding down Shift key key does a full shutdown.
