Every day Classic Shell tells me an update is available in a pop-up/toast, then I click on it, Classic Shell Update opens, and I click Check Now, and it says "Your version of Classic Shell is up to date."

I didn't see anybody else mention this in the forums, but I can't search for "update" because the word is too common apparently.

Any clues what's going on here?

Hmm, have you tried uninstalling and re-installing classic shell?, Another option would be disabling updates

Which version of Classic Shell do you have installed and on which Windows OS are you running it? Is it earlier than version 4.2.1?

Try deleting the file Update.ver in the directory C:\ProgramData\ClassicShell and see if the problem is fixed.

I have 4.2.1 installed. I'll try deleting that update.ver file and if it recurs, I'll try a full uninstall/reinstall. if that doesn't work, I'll report back. Thanks for the tips.
