Post subject: | Conflict With TeamViewer Service version 10.0.40642.0 |
I have been running Classic Shell version 4.1.0 for some time on a Windows 8.1 system. Today, when TeamViewer updated to a newer version, Classic Shell was blocked from fully loading upon reboot. This caused my Start Menu to disappear completely, and my replacement Start button remained fixed on the Desktop above the toolbar when it auto-hid. I was also unable to load the Windows 8.1 Start Screen by using Shift+Click. Through experimentation, I discovered that I could restore full Classic Shell function by disabling the TeamViewer service, which is version 10.0.40642.0, and rebooting. I was then able to manually run TeamViewer with no additional problems. I'm not sure what change in TeamViewer caused this apparent conflict. Has anyone else had a similar experience and/or found a fix? Thanks. |

Any follow up on this issue? I installed TeamViewer's latest build and came across no such incompatibility. If the Start Menu does not load reliably for you at startup, copy-paste a shortcut to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe in your Startup folder at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. |

My workaround was to disable the Teamviewer service and place a shortcut for the TeamViewer application in the Startup folder rather than for Classic Shell, as you suggested. There must be something unique about my setup because I can't find any other mention of this issue anywhere. Interestingly, I am also dual booting and experimenting with Windows 10 on a separate partition with both TeamViewer and Classic Shell installed without this problem, so I'm pretty sure this is not a common issue. Thanks for your thoughts. |
