Post subject:  desktop.ini keeps popping up... Need help

Hey Ivo,

Lately I have been getting a desktop.ini popping up every time I reboot my laptop. I would like to PM the details to you as I am not sure if any of the information is confidential. Would you mind if I PM the details to you to see if this is something that is coming from Classic Shell and if so could you tell me what it may be and why it is popping up?

I appreciate you having a look at this. I trust that you will keep this confidential, if it truly is something that I should be concerned about.

Thanks!

Dardwizzle

This is a famous old Windows issue. I think this should work:

1. Make sure that hidden and system files are set to show.

2. Open these folders:
%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\
%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

3. Delete any desktop.ini files from here.

Special folders have desktop.ini built-in. It's Hidden attribute may have got turned off by some program which is why I suspect it started opening at startup.

Well, while I have no clue what may have put it there, I do thank you for helping me out. Nothing has been out of place since I removed that file. I appreciate it.
