Where are they blank? In the Start Menu or Windows Explorer? Can you show a screenshot please? Classic Start Menu stores the icons in a cache at %appdata%\ClassicShell. Delete the DataCache.db file there and log out and log in and see if the Start Menu shows correct icons. |

What version of Classic Shell do you use? I remember some versions ago there was a bug that would sometimes mess up the icons. |

I have the same problem, folder icons and system icons for apps such as under the start menu 'windows accessories' none of the icons are showing not even for calculator. Some icons for apps are showing and I can fix a few of them by resetting in the properties of the app, but not for folders or system icons. I'm using 4.1.0 on Windows 8.1. Strangely I have classicshell installed on a couple of other machines which are the same and they don't seem to be showing the same problem. I've tried deleting the iconcache.db file but that hasn't fixed it. any other suggestions?

It is possible that your Windows icon cache got corrupted. 1. In Explorer, open the folder %localappdata% (C:\Users\<Your user name>\AppData\Local). Make sure that hidden and system files are being shown and then delete the file IconCache.db. 2. Now delete %appdata%\ClassicShell\DataCache.db 3. Download this ZIP file containing multiple small tools for Windows from this site: http://www.sordum.org/dns_jumper/downloads34.php 4. Inside this ZIP, there will be a folder called "Small_Tools". We are only concerned with the tool to refresh the icon cache. 5. Extract the file named ReIconCache.exe to any folder and run it. You will see the icons getting refreshed. 6. Restart Windows and see if the icons show correctly after restarting. |
