Post subject:  start button opens/closes during logon, taskbar re-arranges

Using 4.0.6 (also upgraded to 4.1.0 same result) on win7sp1/64bit, all is OK, however, during logon, right before the desktop is ready for use, the start menu jumps and shuts jumps and shuts about 5 to 6 times, then ends up closed. This is visually disturbing :)

Also, as a result, the taskbar rearranges itself, and all the taskbars get mixed up, language bar, icons move around. The only w/a for that is "lock taskbar", but still the jumping start menu is happening.

How does one go about debugging this?

In the startup (msconfig), there are about 5 programs listed, and over all total of 50 processes once the laptop is fully running, so it's not loaded with bunch of software, very light.

Any tips welcomed!

Another user reported a similar problem recently, and in his case the problem happened even after uninstalling Classic Shell. Most likely some program is trying to do something fishy to the taskbar.
Try uninstalling, and see of the problem happens again.

BTW, are you using Nvidia Surround? It definitely messes with the taskbar in a bad way.

Thanks for the reply! had time to do more testing. As you said, it is NOT ClassicShell. Also, not using nvidia, just intel card on a lenovo laptop. The taskbar kept Jumping ONCE even with C/S uninstalled. Used autoruns from sysinternals and disabled ALL items, it stopped jumping.. then enabled one by one, and the culprit turned to be "BootRacer" v4.7 (http://greatis.com/bootracer)

wrote them, we'll see what they say, meanwhile w/a was to disable it :)
