I have List view, sorted by Type, enabled for all folders. Some folders are manually set to sort by something else and show thumbnails. Enabling 'Show sort headers in all views' breaks remembering sorting in 'Recent places' by anything else except sorting set by me as default. When I enable 'Sort by date modified' it works fine. But when I switch the folder and visit 'Recent places' again it's 'by type' again. |

Folder settings are remembered by Explorer and if they aren't being remembered then they are not being saved correctly in the Registry. Try going to Folder Options -> View tab -> Reset folders. Showing or hiding sort headers should only affect the display of the bar at the top, not the actual sorting order which is controlled by Explorer. |
