Classic Shell: Forum

When using ClassicShell, when I double click a program icon, the screen goes blank for a 1/2 or so and then it goes back to the classic view without starting the program, I have to dbl click the program icon a second time before the program actually starts.

No other issue at this t


Any help would be appreciated.

1TB hard drive (internal)
1TB hard drive (external backup)

Which version of Classic Shell are you using? Inside the Start menu, you only need to single click to launch a program. The Desktop and the Taskbar are not part of Classic Shell. Or do you mean you are double clicking a folder inside the menu or on the Desktop?

If by screen goes blank you mean the Taskbar is disappearing and coming back, then it means your Explorer.exe is crashing. See this: http://www.classicshell.net/forum/viewt ... p?f=12&t=6 and capture a crash dump and attach it to this forum post.

I am a Windows enthusiast and helped a little with Classic Shell's testing and usability/UX feedback.

The blanking of the screen is due to explorer crashing. If you look in your event logs you'll probably see errors, with the faulting application being explorer.exe. It seems to be a problem with the latest version - 4.0.5, and there is a thread here (about explorer crashes), with the author including what may be the fix about msg 25 or so.
