I have new laptop Asus G750JH with windows 8.1 and after installation Classic Shell it makes me this mistake:
When I shut down computer and than switch on, so I see win logo during boot without rings, but win never start. I must switch off it and then switch on and then win start normally.
This mistake I can remove : -when I flash bios on the same version or newer or
-when I backup C partition with AOMEI backupper and install new Win 8.1 from UEFI DVD (and delete old win) and than
restore C partition with AOMEI backupper.
In the attachment is my settings of the Classic Shell.

Please fix this problem in the next version.
Thanks.

Try holding Shift while you shut down from the start menu.

I have a Asus G750Jx laptop with windows 8.1 pro. I installed the latest Classic Shell and it worked really well out of the box and then I shut down laptop. On rebooting I had the same problem as peering. With the laptop not going to the even the login page and after clicking of the startup page, you just get the rings going round for a while and then going back to startup page again.

Thankfully a friend was able to use his laptop to google the problem and find this posting. I did what Ivo suggested, holding down the shift key and powering off first and then rebooting and I was able to get back in.

I have uninstalled Classic Shell which is a real shame, because I really liked it and it worked well apart from this problem. Would love to try it again if this problem is sorted out.

Without holding Shift the start menu does a hybrid shutdown. It is possible something on your laptop (it may be the BIOS or a driver or a service) doesn't quite like the hybrid shutdown. You can turn it off by unchecking "Enable hybrid shutdown" in the Main Menu tab in the settings.

This is a problem with your hardware not being compatible with hybrid shutdown/fast startup. Try disabling fast startup as described here: http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable- ... ndows-8-1/
