Thanks Ivo for your reply. I do have 2 monitors, but switching one of in the Nvidia driver does not help. Interesting is that when I do a roll back on the driver the problem persists. Even when I re-install the old (314.07) driver the problem remains! Only when I recover to an image of the system disk from before installing the new Nvidia driver the replacement start button works (literally) back to normal, i.e. the original windows start button not showing. Maybe the Startup order has changed and should I force the right order somehow...
