I had no problems with the replacement start button until I upgraded my graphics card driver. Now the original windows start button shows on top of the replacement start button (both being functional). See attached picture. During startup first the original windows start button shows then it is replaced by the replacement start button. And then the original windows start button appears again, now on top of the replacement start button. - Exiting and restarting the Classic Start Menu resolves the problem temporarily. - Logging off and on again also resolves the problem temporarily. System (with problem): - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / driver version 331.82 - Classic Start Menu 4.0.2 * Start Menu Style: Classic style * Replace Start button: Custom System (old config - working ok): - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / driver version 314.07 - Classic Start Menu 3.6.5 * Start Menu Style: Classic style * Replace Start button: Aero Please note: - the problem occured after just upgrading the graphics card driver - upgrading the Classic Start Menu afterwards did not solve it - the problem occurs with all 3 Replace Start button settings (Aero-Classic-Custom)

Looks like the Nvidia software is showing the button after Classic Shell hides it. See if there are any driver settings, particularly related to multimonitor support or Surround. |

Thanks Ivo for your reply. I do have 2 monitors, but switching one of in the Nvidia driver does not help. Interesting is that when I do a roll back on the driver the problem persists. Even when I re-install the old (314.07) driver the problem remains! Only when I recover to an image of the system disk from before installing the new Nvidia driver the replacement start button works (literally) back to normal, i.e. the original windows start button not showing. Maybe the Startup order has changed and should I force the right order somehow... |
