First off, thank you, thank you, thank you for creating and releasing ClassicShell! It truly is a must-have piece of software for boxes running 7/8. I don't know what microsoft is thinking redesigning the GUI as they have... looks like they tried to half-ass copy OSX and merge it with their own GUI. Regardless of what they tried to do, they failed miserably at it. The interface for 8 is so annoying that I refuse to work on machines running it anymore.

I don't know if this should go under bugs or feature request. I'm guessing bug as it's significantly different than the XP/2k behavior that CS provides. If it's in the wrong spot, please feel free to move this thread.

When one uses the file pane on the right to navigate to a subdirectory, the folder pane on the left reflects the change. However, if you select a sub-directory under this, the folder pane stays where it is if the folder has not been explicitly expanded. Under XP/2k/98/95/3.1, when you navigate to a directory using the file pane, the folder pane automatically expands and the directory that's displayed in the file pane is shown & selected in the folder pane.

This is not a major flaw, but is annoying when navigating through directories several deep.

Go to Folder Options in Control Panel. On the General tab, in the Navigation Pane section, check the option 'Automatically expand to current folder'.

That did it, though I now feel like an idiot. :( Thanks for the tip. :)

Why on earth would anyone NOT want this behavior? Insane that it doesn't default to being on...
