First off, thank you, thank you, thank you for creating and releasing ClassicShell! It truly is a must-have piece of software for boxes running 7/8. I don't know what microsoft is thinking redesigning the GUI as they have... looks like they tried to half-ass copy OSX and merge it with their own GUI. Regardless of what they tried to do, they failed miserably at it. The interface for 8 is so annoying that I refuse to work on machines running it anymore. I don't know if this should go under bugs or feature request. I'm guessing bug as it's significantly different than the XP/2k behavior that CS provides. If it's in the wrong spot, please feel free to move this thread. When one uses the file pane on the right to navigate to a subdirectory, the folder pane on the left reflects the change. However, if you select a sub-directory under this, the folder pane stays where it is if the folder has not been explicitly expanded. Under XP/2k/98/95/3.1, when you navigate to a directory using the file pane, the folder pane automatically expands and the directory that's displayed in the file pane is shown & selected in the folder pane. This is not a major flaw, but is annoying when navigating through directories several deep. |

Go to Folder Options in Control Panel. On the General tab, in the Navigation Pane section, check the option 'Automatically expand to current folder'. |

That did it, though I now feel like an idiot. ![]() ![]() Why on earth would anyone NOT want this behavior? Insane that it doesn't default to being on... |
