Shut Down Button/link is gone. It shows up in the options as being there but it is gone. Now I can not change ANY of the settings. Same with other controls too. I tried to remove and re-install the program, following the removal directions in the website under FAQ. So I tried the Beta version and it loaded and started fine but on the 2nd time I went into to adjust the settings the OLD VERSION came back ! ! ! I can not even right click it to get the option page open now. I have restarted the system many times when (loading the current and beta versions) when I unloaded it but the old buggy version keeps coming back every time I reload the program.

Somewhere someplace in my computer it is storing a buggy copy classic shell and I can not remove it. I even removed the reg. key you talked about in the FAQ.

Did you try any other Start Menus like iStartMenu or Win8 StartButton? They're based on the open source version of Classic Shell and if you had them installed and then installed the newer beta, it can cause issues.

Since you say you are unable to open settings, and have several things messed up, you can try deleting settings related to the Start Menu and then try opening the menu again.

I have attached a ZIP file containing a .REG file which will delete all menu settings and then Classic Start Menu will automatically revert to default settings.

Simply download the ZIP file and open the .REG file inside it by double clicking it. Confirm "Yes" to merge it into the registry. Note that all Classic Start Menu-related settings will be deleted and then you will able to click on the Start button again and configure fresh settings as if you just cleanly installed the menu for the first time.
