I have Classic Shell on my Win8 HTPC. I play a lot of flash videos from the internet in full screen. When in full screen, the full task bar is still visible over the video. I know I can set it to "auto hide", but this is less than ideal. |

Please answer these questions: 1) Are you sure the problem doesn't exist even without Classic Shell? 2) What version of Classic Shell are you using? 3) What software do you use to play flash videos? Where can I get me some of those videos? 4) What is your desktop resolution? |

I need all details so I can try to reproduce it locally as truthfully as possible. Maybe the specific software does something special at that resolution or aspect ratio. |

I'm running 1360x768 on the attached TV. I've updated to the latest version of Classic Shell, problem still persists. It happens on any full screened browser video including YouTube, Netflix (which is Silverlight, not flash), Hulu, etc. The video snaps to full screen like it would on Windows 7, but instead of the Start menu/taskbar being BEHIND the video, its on top of the video and visible the whole time. |

try uninstalling classic shell, and seeing if the problem persist, if-so its unrelated to classic shell |

Uninstalled classic shell and problem remained. I figured out this is a well known problem when using the DPI Font Scaling in Win7/8. If you set it to 150% or higher, the taskbar will remain visible over full screen video and other applications. Turning the scaling down to 125% or lower fixes the problem. Unfortunately, this is unreadable on a TV when sitting on the couch. It has to be 150% or higher to be functional. One small workaround is to check the box to use XP style scaling. This bumps the font sizes up slightly, but also fixes the full screen video problem. It's not ideal but it's a start. |

SUCCESS - For anyone interested, the new Windows 8.1 beta FIXES this issue. You can set the DPI scaling to 150% or higher and the taskbar (windows native OR Classic Shell) no longer displays over full screen windows or video. You can download the patch for free from Microsoft |
