All,

I'm running Classic Shell 4.0.2 on windows 8.1 which is installed via Parallels. on the new Retina Macbook Pro 13". I use "Classic with two columns" and I unchecked the "Replace start button flag".

Each time when I press the start button the PC hangs and gives a delay. after 20-30 seconds the start menu pops-up.

Any idea what can be wrong?

Is it the entire PC or just Explorer? For example, if you have a Notepad opened, can you still type in it during the 20-30 second hang?

After you question I checked it. It looks like more that the "taskbar" hangs and I can use the program which is open. In this case I was able to write this message during "hanging" of the taskbar after start count.

OK. So then you can capture a dump using the procdump program while the taskbar is frozen. Click on the "How to capture crash dumps" link at the top.
Attach the dumps here.

Btw, are you running Parallels in coherence mode, where it hides the Windows 7 desktop and taskbar and puts the Start button on the OS X dock?

It seems to be stuck on trying to fetch the timestamp on some program in the start menu.
Do this:
1) Open regedit and go to HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings
2) Create a new DWORD value named "LogLevel" and set it to 6
3) Log off, log in
4) Open an Explorer window on %APPDATA%\ClassicShell
5) Open the start menu, wait for it to open, then close it
6) In Explorer look for a file named StartMenuLog.txt. Rename it to StartMenuLog1.txt, zip it, and attach here
7) Set LogLevel to 0 in the registry so no more log files are created

No. You need HKEY_Current_User
