I'm running Version 4.0.1 on Windows 8.1

The easiest way to reproduce this issue is to open Firefox and press F11.

This issue seems to affect any full screen application. Unfortunately this makes using Remote Desktop in full screen impossible because the local taskbar is always in front of the remote taskbar. The taskbar stays on full-screen videos and even some games.

What's interesting is I can close Classic Start and the issue immediately goes away.

I don't think I have any 3rd party apps running that mess with the UI. I do have an Nvidia card, and I made sure that surround was disabled. I'm not using multiple monitors.

I closed all running apps, even the ones in the system tray area, and the issue still occurs.

I had an older version of Classic Shell installed on this same system and it did not have this issue.

Please help. Right now it's making my system very difficult to use.

Thank you.

I uninstalled 4.0.1 and re-installed 3.6.8 and the issue no longer occurs. I'll just use this older version until 4.x is fixed.

If you think of a workaround for 4.0.1 or release a new 4.x version, I'd be happy to try it.

Thanks.

Can you see if the problem happens if you are using the Windows 8.1 button? (Uncheck the setting "Replace Start button").

On 4.0.1? I hadn't changed the start button to anything custom, so I assume it was set to that. The start button looked like the standard 8.1 button.

Drat! Double drat! I see the problem. I was focusing on fixing the case where there is a custom button, and I broke the case when the default button is used.

I will make a new version 4.0.2 in the next hour. Stay tuned.

Looks good! I can no longer re-create the issue.

You're the best!

I appreciate the (very) quick support.

Thanks for testing this. The new version 4.0.2 with the fix is now officially released.

Hello,
Is it possible to get taskbar to back of Firefox when I just use maximize instead of F11?
It's most annoying feature of W8/W8.1. It's pain to work with serious apps like Photoshop, Premiere or similar.

Please help.

No, not possible. That's what fullscreen (F11) is for. (well, if you don't count the auto-hide feature of the taskbar)

I have a problem with the task bar too...

I find that the task bar works the way I want it to, which is hiding when I don't need to switch apps, and coming back when I bump the edge for it.

That is, until my system goes to screen saver, and then I return later.

The task bar will be over the top of everything and will NOT go away.
I tried re-setting autohide, moving it to the sides and bottom, but it just refuses to disapear, and it is over top of things like tab's and menu bars,
anything at all at the top of the page. It will let me make it thicker, and back to one line, but it will not hide itself.

It makes it so that I have to re-start the system to get the auto-hide to work like it should again. It makes it so you can not close windows
without right clicking on the tab in the task bar to select close from the drop down.

The system is a DELL inspron i5 laptop running windows 8.1, No touch screen or 2ndary screens. The screen saver does put up an image from a folder
that it cycles images thru every so often changing out the image for another one..

I hope you can help, IF you need more info on this, please let me know what you need and I will attempt to provide you with it.

Thanks! AG

@vhunter, the Taskbar is part of Windows and Classic Shell only adds a Start button to it. You can check if exiting Classic Start Menu by right clicking the button -> Exit makes any difference but if it doesn't fix the problem, then it's a bug in the Taskbar, Classic Shell can do nothing about it.
