Hello!

Is there a way to stop the taskbar from being so needy and invasive? I really dislike the flashing yellow warnings trying to catch your attention to some software which I have running but that shouldn't dictate over my life.

There is a system setting that determines the number of times a program will flash. I vaguely remember that the old TweakUI program was letting you change it, but that's for old versions of Windows. You may try searching for a more modern software that can change that setting. You may look also into a custom theme that has less yellow highlight.
