Post subject:  Running Classic Shell with Parallels?

I currently have Parallels Build 8.0.18608 installed on my Mac running version 10.8.5. Parallels runs Windows 8.

Does anyone know if it is okay to install the Classic Shell on to Parallels? If so, are there any special instructions or tips to keep in mind?

Thanks!

Do you mean specifically in coherence mode of Parallels because otherwise it's just a regular desktop-in-desktop virtualization product AFAIK so it should be no problem. Someone reported using Classic Shell with Parallels 8 for Mac earlier: http://sourceforge.net/p/classicshell/bugs/210/ so it *should* work. We don't own Macs or Parallels to test this scenario. :)

Try installing it and let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I just installed it and it works. However, when using Coherence, the menu does not appear atop of the Windows 8 logo on the Mac desktop like it does with Windows 7 or XP (I'm running all 3 versions on my Mac). Classic shell pops up at the bottom right corner, just like it would if Windows 8 has the full screen for itself. So this makes it cumbersome to use.

Could somebody working on Classic Shell or Parallels look into this?

Many Thanks,
Serge

Sorry, I don't own a Mac and I don't know what it does to trick Windows to appear in a portion of the screen. Maybe it has some exceptions specifically for the Windows 7/XP start menu, but since it doesn't know about Classic Shell, it doesn't move it.
