Post subject:  Please teach me to use Windows Search

To begin with, let me make this clear: I can write a programming script, I made lots of unofficial patches for games, game trainers and many more things. In order words, I consider myself a power user. But this puzzles me.

Please familiarize yourselves with my video (watch in HD if you can):

I know I can use Search from start menu, but as far as I can tell, it searches only drive C:\. In all other cases, I am supposed to use the search that you see in my video. But HOW THE HELL does it work? It doesn't find anything. Instead of searching for files and folders, it passes my query to the browser. And as an address, no less. What the hell is going on? Same crap happens in vanilla Windows 7.

P.S. Youtube really murders the quality of my videos on upload...

Looks like you have hidden the search box from the Classic Explorer settings. Typing in the address bar will not do searches.

Aha, I suspected that. So even this search still uses the standard window search box. Then I see no point in this search - you can just type what you need to search in any explorer window. Thank you.

Post subject:  Re: Please teach me to use Windows Search  Topic is solved

Well, that's what the Search menu item has done on previous versions of Windows, so I'm replicating the behavior.
