Try downloading again. I accidentally used the old certificate (the same as 4.3.0) instead of the new one.
It is also possible your problem is related to smart screen or other heuristic that is naturally suspicious of new and unknown software.

Classic Shell 4.3.1 was just released. Download it from here: http://www.classicshell.net

Here’s what’s new:
  • Official support for the Creators Update version of Windows 10
  • Added a setting to clear icon cache
  • Multiple minor improvements and bugfixes

In almost all cases like this it was caused by the IDT audio control panel. It is not compatible with Windows 10. See if you have a file named "idtnc64.cpl" in C:\Windows\System32, and if so, delete it.

Classic Shell gets the paths from Windows. It may not be enough to change the user folder in the registry - there is also the location of the start menu, pictures, documents, etc.

Shift+click on the start button to open the Windows 10 menu. See if you can find the Maps there, and pin it. If even that doesn't work, then there is something wrong with that app.

Try this - in Explorer, go into your user folder under Desktop, then go to Searches.
Double-click "Indexed Locations". Then type the search word in the search field in Explorer. Does it find anything?

As far as I know the Home edition should not have any policies set. See if you can delete the two NoClose that you found. Maybe even having 0 there throws Windows off.
Other than that, no ideas.

If you click on the Desktop, then press Alt+F4, do you see "shut down" in the list?

When the start menu launches it collects all items from the interesting folders (icons, names, etc).
I think you can get the same crash when you simply view the Control Panel in Explorer.

Or you can try deleting the pieces that look unimportant. But you may delete too much.

When you pin a folder, Classic Shell creates a special "folder shortcut" as described here: https://superuser.com/questions/142420/ ... mmand-line
It is a folder that contains a target.lnk file and a desktop.ini file with special contents.
