As of 3.6.7 (and versions before it), Classic Start Menu's integrated search box only searches programs and Control Panel settings. It doesn't search indexed files and other indexed stuff. Windows 8 comes with feature "Reset and Refresh". Try that from PC Settings. Or try System Restore to restore the OS to a state when it was working properly. |

There is a Main_background= parameter - RRGGBB color to use for the background of the main menu. It defaults to the system menu color and the bitmap will be drawn on top. But the color is only used if Main_opacity is "solid". |

Classic Shell only adds a Start Menu to Windows. It doesn't modify any system files or change Windows 8's behavior in any other way, it doesn't even touch system settings. You're right. Thanks for reporting. Seems to be a bug. It should only disable the transparency for the second taskbar and not show the Start button on it if that setting is unchecked. You can do that in Windows 8/7/Vista already. Go to Personalization Control Panel -> Window Color and Appearance -> set the color there. On Windows 8, you can also set it to "Auto" so that it matches your wallpaper color. |

You can Shift+click the button to go to the Metro screen. Or you can right click the Start button -> Settings -> Controls tab. Change "Left click opens", "Windows key opens" etc to whatever you want. |

Classic Shell doesn't incorporate modifying registry settings as they are undocumented and can change any time. Not everyone has Synaptics touchpads and the registry key will be manufacturer-specific. It won't work for Alps, Elan or Cirque touchpads. |

"Show recent programs on top" means show them on the top of pinned programs. There is another setting just called "Show recent programs". |
