While it's not free, I'd recommend buying WindowBlinds if you want that sort of skinning. It's pretty cheap too, 9.99 USD. Plays nicely with Classic Shell as far as I can see. @Splitwirez, You can already have Classic Shell not autostart when Explorer starts by unchecking "Start automatically for this user" on General Behavior tab. Run it manually from C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe. I've never found that that Setting reliably disables it.....

No, it blurs whatever is behind it by the same amount no matter what opacity you pick, even 0. Also the alpha channel mask could make for some interesting taskbars. What would be REALLY sweet is if you could choose a 2nd alpha channel mask to create glass that distorts the image behind it depending...

I assume you asking about windows themes (not classic shell skins, though either way the answer is probably the same) The active theme does.. though its the same for first party themes. so unless a theme is particularly large, the difference between it and one of the default themes in terms of ram ...

I succeeded in replacing the original explorerframe.dll files in both the System folders. But the blue Windows 7 up button remains. That's a Classic Shell feature, you can change it in Classic Explorer settings By looking at images it looks like XP did not have an up button. Okay. Wait what? I thou...

I tried getting the XP forward and backward buttons in place but it was a no go. I can try it again but it didn't seem like a straightforward process.
