Thanks for the replies. I actually already have posted this question on the 7+ Taskbar Tweaker site, but haven't gotten a reply there yet. Can you tell me more about Start9? Start9 is a modular, extensible shell supplement thing I and others have been working on. It's not exactly ready for day-to-d...

Alternatively, Start9's Taskbar offerings could easily provide such options.

Start9 isn't exactly ready for day-to-day use as of yet, though, so atleast for the moment, Jcee's solution would definitely be the way to go IMO.

I didn't notice, and still don't see the difference between the windows classic for windows 7 when it came out in 2009, and the classic theme for windows 95/98 which I linked. You can change the title bar colors in windows 7 to look exactly like the windows 95/98 theme that I linked. If it has bugs...

It's new, although I'd hardly be surprised if we ended up learning a fair bit from Classic Shell's source code.

The solution you proposed for Windows 8 does not work with Windows 7. Yes, but it's we have to offer. Besides, the way it works with Windows 8 leaves much to be desired, because a lot of control elements do not look classically at all, Same deal with Windows 7, and aside from the Metro UI stuff, a ...

@Splitwirez, You can already have Classic Shell not autostart when Explorer starts by unchecking "Start automatically for this user" on General Behavior tab. Run it manually from C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe. I've never found that that Setting reliably disables it.....
