I read the help ages ago when I first started using ClassicShell, and I just double checked: my understanding of non-default value is bolded is a direct result of the current text (unchanged from my first read AFAICT). Please consider copying in this paragraph verbatim: A "default" setting...

Ok.

Losing the skin settings is expected behaviour then. Is that true even if an XML backup has been saved and restored?

Ah. That makes more sense. Is that explanation included in the help?

And as always, thanks for the great software!

I did not have a backup. ClassicShell has never lost a setting before so I never bother. Ah, I thought "didn't use to work" might have been the case but I couldn't remember. In which case I amend my bug report to "Skin menu is inconsistent with the rest of the settings UI". The S...

I upgraded from 3.6.8 to 4.0.0. Everything went smoothly, except one small glitch:

All the settings from the Skin tab were lost. Further, upon re-doing the settings, they are not displayed in bold like usual to indicate a change from the default.

ttc, you don't specify which Windows you're running, so I don't know if this will help or not: these instructions are for Windows 7 x64. Also note these are my personal instructions, me talking to myself. And the whitespace has been clobbered. > These attributes are SFGAO_ values (see below) # NOTE:...

Actually it is MS who would get sued in that scenario. I was having solving-time contests with friends in... 1985. Well before Windows.

Indeed, this is the problem. TortoiseSVN is taking up most of the slots, and, on my old machine I'd configured enough of them off that ClassicShell's sharing overlay happened to be available. It would be nice if ClassicShell could detect this and mention it. However, I noticed that turning off the T...

I updated the screenshots to highlight the exact problem I am seeing.

Okay, the screenshots should be attached to this post; one showing normal operation and one showing the bug. It appears to be a conflict between ClassicShell and TortoiseSVN in certain configurations. My old job I had (probably) a Dell laptop running Win7 Professional 64-bit, and had ClassicShell 3....

I followed those steps, turning on or enabling all the options (the IvoSoft stuff was disabled in add-ons management for instance), with no effect. Nav pane shows the shard overlay, file pane does not.

Anything else to try?
