Yes I agree this is a limitation. As a workaround, right click the folder and choose Create shortcut. Cut this shortcut and paste it in %appdata%\ClassicShell\Pinned.

If you are on Windows 8/8.1, open Classic Start Menu Settings. In the search box of the Settings window, type: corner. Set Disable active corners to "All". Click OK. Now try the game. Does that fix it?

You can be 100% sure that desktop icons are not affected by the Classic Shell software in any way. There is some other issue with your PC. Contact Microsoft support.

If you are using Small icons (if that option is checked in Skin Settings), you must modify Main2_text_padding values under the [SMALL_ICONS] section in the skin.

Right click them -> Properties. Check Hidden attribute checkbox and click OK. You might have to do this twice for each folder as there are two of them - one in your user profile and one in the All Users folder.

Check your Antivirus. It might be blocking Classic Shell files. Temporarily disable it and see if Classic Shell works.

Right click the Taskbar -> Properties. On the Navigation tab, check "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start." Now Windows 8.1 won't start on the Tiles screen but will instead boot to the desktop.

Open command prompt and copy-paste/type the following command:

Yes the name appears that way instead of underlining a. That's because if an actual filename contained '&', there would be no way to differentiate between the two. But you can use the accelerator key 'a' to take the focus to F&avorites.

The only difference in this particular image is the positioning of the logo inside the image and removal of some of the transparent portions. The *combination* of "Align to corner of the screen" and High DPI means the image has to be adjusted. :)

No, right click on Start button -> Settings will open Classic Shell Settings which are different from Windows Settings.
