I would even suggest that you try Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell. It's far superior to Windows 10 with all of its modern features like Miracast but none of the silliness like bloated slow forced updates doing nasty things on your PC continuously.

Unfortunately it turns off the DWM making the experience jerky and far from smooth. That is why I gave up the classic theme starting with Windows 7. Classic theme should have been updated for Windows 8.

It can't be prevented. There must be one specific program causing this - identify it and uninstall it. It can also be due to an oversensitive touchpad which causes unexpected taps causing focus to change. Download the correct touchpad driver and disable tapping.
